Mathematics Re-Design Workgroup Meeting

On February 13-14, 2019, the Florida Student Success Center, in partnership with Polk State College and the Florida College System, will be hosting a Mathematics Re-Design Workgroup Meeting at the Polk State College Lakeland Technology Building (LTB). All assigned workgroup members will gather at 6:30 p.m. on February 13 for dinner, followed by a full day meeting on February 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The purpose of this gathering is to focus on Phase 3 of the Workgroup Framework that is purposed to generate best practices and develop policy recommendations for analyzing ways to eliminate mathematics barriers that prevent students from degree completion. All workgroup members are invited to attend.

The charge of the Florida Mathematics Re-Design workgroups is to explore complex issues surrounding mathematics pathways to prepare high school students for transition into Florida College System institutions and Florida College System students for transition into four-year universities. Three inter-connected workgroups focused on high school to college mathematics alignment, Florida College System mathematics alignment and Florida College System to university mathematics alignment will collaborate to identify current challenges in mathematics pathways and develop policy and practice recommendations to improve student achievement across education systems.
